Valle was one of the main figures of the rebirth of Brazilian pop in the 60s.
A singer, composer and producer, he signed his first major record deal when
just 25, giving rise to "BossaNova 68" (recently re-released by Verve),
with a good dose of hits which have since become cornerstones of Brazil's heritage
including "Summer Samba", "Crickets Sings For Anna Maria". Starting
with these forays into Bossa, which he greatly helped to develop and refine, during
the 70s Valle then launched himself into rhythmic and harmonic fusions, flirting
shamelessly with rock, jazz, rhythm'n'blues, improvisation and even electronic
music. He was recently the guest of honour at the prestigious "Montreux Jazz
Festival" for an evening dedicated to 40 years of bossa nova.
