The unstoppable triumph and consolidation of the ethnic music has filled our countries with different Festivals, record labels, and publications that spread a real content of traditional and folk music. In the same time the vitality and effervescence proved by the techno music have passed its enthusiasm to the other musical styles, including rock music, pop and jazz. It seemed logic that would come a time in which the electronic dancing will reach with the different expressions that can be embraced in ethnic or world music. And to this interesting convergence meeting, that is giving us many good feelings and surprises, we gave the title of Global Dance. We prepared a special night in which participate dj´s, plastic artists and four of the most influential bands of this new concept of musical sonority, that will play in this unforgettable party. During more than four hours we will feel this musical and cultural racial mix, as an exactly x-ray of the new human period we are just starting to live.

NU TEMPO

Nu Tempo is a project of electronic pop music that began in 1999. Before that date his founder Juanjo Javierre was the leader of Mestizos, a band that was a world pioneer in fusion Latin rhythms and rock. He had published with them three discs between year 86 and the 92. In addition he had been producing an album "Por su sitio" (New Means 92) of the group again flamenco Willy Gímenez & Chanela.

In 1993 the project Soul Mondo was born with the pretension to give to Dance music a Mediterranean and Latin identity. The first CD "Explorando el Planeta Gumbo" (Fonomusic 95) was a collection of songs, in which, over a polyrhythmic baseline, were mixed elements from rap, Mediterranean music or Afro Cuban touches. After a good reception in his country, Spain, and after some live shows with Manu Dibango, Yossou N´Dour, during 1996 composes and records his second cd "Nada malo en casa" (Fonomusic 97). Part of this album was recorded in Matrix Studies of London, and it was released as a record of remixes "Tremendous: The remixes" (Fonomusic 97), in which some of themes were made by Transglobal Underground.

Now, the creative discourse has matured after six years of working together, European and Cuban musicians, Nu Tempo is a project between tradition and electronic, dance avant-garde and Afro-American roots. Their new songs are not a simple crossover of styles. It is the creation of a new sound, a new style. To archive this, they worked deeply in the africanity and the ancestors of the Cuban music, like Yoruba rhythms and chants or the complex world of rumba and his powerful percussions. Moreover, the search of possibilities of electronics and the working methods of techno has carried Juanjo Javierre to form another project, PROFESSOR SOMNO, who made live sets in Sonar Festival, in Barcelona, and in the chill out rooms of some clubs.

This duality between electronic and the world music is the main charm of Nu Tempo for both musical ambiances, because their fascinating creative process has made possible to penetrate both world.

In June of this year, the first CD of Nu Tempo, "Rumbo a nuevas islas" (So Dens-Universal) is a collections of songs point out "Islas", a classic bolero with an adjustment of drum & bass.

In concert, he (Juanjo Javierre) is accompanied by five extraordinary musicians which demonstrate that we are dealing with a new sound, a new style. Nu Tempo is the newest proposal in Latin Music.
