| Vinicio
Capossela was born in Hanover, Germany, in December 14th 1965. Back in Italy very
soon, he registers and attends the Conservatory in Emilia (Tuscany), where he
matures his first artistic experiences. But he soon quits to better follow the
music in more congenial venues. He works, often at the same time, as a parking
attendant, a barman, plays the piano in cruises, hotels, Rivera night clubs and
some New York pubs: a long peregrination marked by a strong dose of humanity.
The same humanity that will imbue the world of "All'una e trentacinque circa"
(1990), his first album, "a nocturne album of melancholic ballads and violent
rushes of euphoria". Still in the wave of his first official breakthrough,
Vinicio comes out with a second CD, "Modì" (1991) and goes on
his first Italian tour. The album is also published in Germany, where he holds
several concerts and representations. Some of his new songs are included in the
film "Non Chiamarmi Omar" from Staino e Altan (1992), in which he also
plays a small part. A third album, "Camera a Sud" (1994), will allow
him to set his mark across the border, especially in France, where his unique
concert at the "Théatre de la Ville" in Paris was sold out in
a matter of hours. His performances are marked by an ever growing emotional participation,
a great capacity for improvisation, and more and more intimacy and complicity
with his public.
Follows a successful collaboration, as an actor and author,
in Paolo Rossi's plays "Pop e Rebelot", "Milanin Milanon"
and "Il Circo", a participation in the tribute album dedicated to Vladimir
Visotski, the Italian versions of Annibal Troilo's tangos, and, after a period
of curious perambulation, Vinicio comes back with yet another masterpiece, his
forth album "Il Ballo di San Vito"
A very interesting album
" LIVE IN VOLVO", released in 1999 by EAST WEST (WARNER). This CD is
much more than a live record, it is not the musical story or a picture of an italian
tournée, but is more the recording of an imaginary concert. It is the
lyric world of Vinicio, an opening on Capossela's passion for Tango (he has a
show solely based on tango songs), and it also includes 5 songs recorded with
the gypsy brass band KOCANI ORKESTAR from Macedonian, which gender has been internationally
spread by the movie "UNDERGROUND" from Director EMIR KUSTURICA.
