One year is gone since the birth of Puglia Sounds and it seems quite right to write a post that tells a bit of what has happened during these months of activity.
2010: A different music
2010 has been for Puglia a year of good music and big satisfactions.
Our region thanks to Puglia Sounds has been chosen by protagonists of regional, national and international music as location to produce and introduce music events.
Through two different public calls Production of new music events in Puglia published in 2010 the music productions supported by Puglia Sounds are more than 15 and of these 7 have been already produced in 2010: from Way to Blue/the song of Nick Drake realized in collaboration with Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome and The Barbican Centre in London to the new music event of the young talented girl from Puglia Lucia Manca.

For 2011 there are already other 5 productions supported by Puglia Sounds on schedule: in February Erica Mou and Cesare Dell’Anna, in March Caparezza, in April Gianluca Petrella and in May Nicola Conte. Through the publication of the third public call for the production of new music events in Puglia many other productions will be added.
Furthermore thanks to the collaboration with Fondazione Musica per Roma in 2010 it has been possible to present other four music productions and a window of Apulian jazz music at the Parco della Musica in Rome in occasion of the GEZZ Generazione Jazz Festival.
In Puglia music is at home
In Bari the Kursaal Santalucia theatre has become La Casa delle Musiche, a music production and operations centre for the development of the regional music system in which a tight activity of programming, music event production and hospitality of events produced by regional operators takes place.
In the region Il Circuito delle Musiche has been established: a net of public spaces dedicated to live music that hosts a regional music program and the production, preparation and debut of new music events supported by Puglia Sounds.

Apulian music plays well in Italy and abroad
Apulian music goes out from the regional and the national boundaries and arrives to the Womex in Copenaghen and to the Hit Week festival in New York.

Puglia Sounds the music system is the title of the CD published in collaboration with XL of Repubblica, 80.000 copies distributed in all of Italy.
Through the two public calls internationalization of the scene, dedicated to the support of the tournée abroad of Apulian artists and published in 2010, Puglia Sounds has already supported in December Sud Sound System’s tournée in Australia and in 2011 Nicola Conte’s international tour will include concerts in England, Germany, Spain and France.
The third public call “internationalization of the scene” has its deadline set for March 2011 and through it Puglia Sounds will keep to encourage and support International tournée of Apulian artists.

Puglia creativa
Puglia Sounds supports Apulian music in all its forms: for Puglia creativa 10 Apulian emerging musicians could develop their own music project experiencing the whole creative and production process supported by great professionals of national and international music.
